The official free practice sessions opened Saturday’s program for the F4 Central European Zone Championship at the Salzburgring, which is hosting the second round of the season. The fastest driver overall across the two split practice sessions was Elia Weiss of Jenzer Motorsport.
Only two drivers managed to lap in under 1 minute 21 seconds. They were Jenzer Motorsport teammates Elia Weiss and Teo Borenstein. Weiss set the benchmark with a lap of 1:20.968, while Borenstein was just 0.014 seconds slower. Both drivers took part in the second practice group, which started at 8:50 a.m. in slightly warmer conditions.
In the first group, which began at 8:00 a.m. and was interrupted by a lengthy red-flag period, the fastest time of 1:21.135 was set by Max Karhan from Jenzer Motorsport. The second-fastest driver was Francesco Pio Coppola from Technorace Competition.
The field of 40 cars was divided into two groups of 20 drivers, with each group taking part in one of the two 45-minute morning practice sessions.
The program at the Salzburgring continues with two qualifying sessions, scheduled to start at 11:20 a.m. and 11:50 a.m. respectively.
