F4 Central European Zone Championship racer Mathilda Paatz is set to make her debut in the F1 Academy this weekend in Montreal, stepping in as a Wild Card entry with support from global sports drink leader Gatorade.
The 16-year-old German driver, who is competing in the F4 CEZ this season, impressed by leading the race at the Red Bull Ring and ultimately finishing in second place. She will now take on a new challenge at the highest level of female junior single-seater racing. Her entry into the F1 Academy highlights the growing visibility and opportunities for talented young drivers emerging from regional championships like F4 CEZ.
Mathilda’s participation in the Montreal round of F1 Academy marks the second time an F4 CEZ driver has joined this championship. The first was Joanne Ciconte, who started in Brno last year before moving to F1 Academy for this season.
After three rounds—two at the Red Bull Ring and one at the Salzburgring—Mathilda currently sits sixth in the F4 CEZ drivers’ standings, having delivered consistently strong results, including multiple top-five finishes.
