The penultimate round of the F4 Central European Zone takes place this weekend at the Slovakia Ring, with Friday’s opening qualifying session won for the first time by Nicolas Cortes. The Mexican driver beat his teammate Gino Trappa by just 0.098 seconds.

When the late-afternoon qualifying began, only a few drivers went out on track immediately, while most of the field waited a few minutes before starting their fight for the best lap times.

As expected, the Jenzer Motorsport cars occupied the top positions. Cortes secured his first-ever F4 CEZ pole position, with championship leader Gino Trappa in second and their teammate Javier Herrera in third.

Last year’s runner-up Kirill Kutskov from Maffi Racing qualified fourth. Benett Gáspár (Zengő Motorsport) delivered an excellent performance, securing fifth on the grid alongside Hady Mimassi (Renauer Motorsport).

The fourth row will feature Mathilda Paatz from Mathilda Racing and championship contender Max Karhan, whose qualifying did not go as planned. Ninth place went to David Gorčica from Janík Motorsport, while Simon Schranz (Renauer Motorsport) completed the top ten.
