The third race of the F4 Central European Zone Championship weekend at Slovakia Ring showcased a commanding performance from Jenzer Motorsport’s Teo Borenstein. The Czech driver converted pole position into the fastest lap of the race and the victory.

Borenstein lined up on the front row alongside David Walther, with Elia Weiss and Max Karhan occupying the second row. Markas Silkunas and Dean Pedersen started from the third row, while Georgiy Zasov and Ella Hakkinen lined up fourth. Mio Olert and Aleksandar Bogunovic completed the top ten on the grid.

Borenstein made a strong start and retained the lead into Turn 1, while Weiss moved up to second, demoting Walther to third. Unlike the two races on Saturday, the opening lap passed without incident, although there were plenty of battles throughout the field as drivers ran side by side through several corners.

At the end of the opening lap, Borenstein led Weiss, Walther, Silkunas, Pedersen, Karhan, Zasov, Olert, Bogunovic and Erik Poulsen, who completed the top ten.

Walther found a way past Weiss on lap two to move into second place and set off in pursuit of the race leader. Borenstein’s steadily growing advantage was wiped out when the race was stopped following an accident involving Mio Olert and Piotr Orcholski. The pair made unfortunate contact on the exit of the fast Turn 2 and were sent into the tyre barriers.

The race was red-flagged while repairs were carried out to the barriers. Following the delay, racing resumed behind the safety car with 12 minutes remaining.

At the restart, Walther swept around the outside at Turn 1 and briefly took the lead, but Borenstein immediately reclaimed the position in the following corner. Dean Pedersen made an even stronger restart, climbing into second place during the opening lap after the green flag.

Walther soon fought his way back to second, but the battle for positions was brought to an early conclusion with five minutes remaining when Bien Cezary became stranded in the gravel trap following a fight inside the points-paying positions. The safety car was deployed and remained on track until the end of the race.

Borenstein secured his second victory of the weekend in style, having also claimed pole position and the fastest lap. Walther finished second, while Pedersen celebrated his maiden F4 CEZ podium in third. Weiss crossed the line fourth ahead of his team-mates Karhan, Silkunas and Zasov. Bogunovic finished eighth, Hakkinen ninth and Viktor Poulsen completed the top ten.
