The F4 Central European Zone (F4 CEZ) championship begins this weekend with a record-breaking grid for the opening round of the season. A total of 22 ambitious young drivers are eager to finally compete for points after the long winter break.

Although some drivers are using this race primarily as preparation for their campaigns in other championships, the field throughout the entire 2025 F4 CEZ season will be significantly stronger than in previous two years.

Two Swiss teams, Jenzer Motorsport and Maffi Racing, enter as favorites to fight for victories. Jenzer Motorsport has dominated the previous two seasons, securing both the drivers’ and teams’ championships in 2023 and 2024, thus remaining unbeaten since the series’ inception.

For the Red Bull Ring weekend, Jenzer will field seven cars for drivers Teo Schropp, Nicolas Cortes, Javier Herrera, Bautista Acosta, Bart Harrison, and Max Karhan. Maffi Racing brings four cars driven by David Walther, Nikolaj Dyrved, Andreas Lo Bue, and Teodor Borenstein.

Together, Jenzer Motorsport and Maffi Racing account for exactly half the field, but their success is far from guaranteed. There are 11 additional entries with many fast and promising drivers ready to challenge for podium places.

Home favorites, Austria’s Renauer Motorsport, will compete with two cars driven by Hady Mimassi and Simon Schranz, who already have experience from last year’s F4 CEZ championship. Romania’s teams Real Racing brings car for Luca Viisoreanu, while Hungary’s Zengö Motorsport fields Benett Gáspár.

Representing the Czech Republic are Janík Motorsport, entering drivers Romuald Bocquet and David Gorčica, and the F4 CEZ Academy team with František Němec. Slovenia-based AS Motorsport will field three cars for Chase Fernandez, Michalina Sabaj, and Mathilda Platz, with Platz competing under the Mathilda Racing banner.

Sabaj, Platz and Kiara Henni form a trio of promising young female drivers looking forward to proving their speed and competitiveness against their male counterparts. Michalina Sabaj already showed strong form last year by finishing fifth in the drivers’ standings.

Expectations for the season opener are high, matched by the motivation and determination of the teams and drivers. The entry list demonstrates that F4 CEZ is continually growing. Remarkably, in only its third season, the championship boasts more cars than Formula 1, where many of these young talents aspire to compete one day. So pay close attention to the names on the entry list—you might soon see some of them racing at the highest levels. After all, that’s precisely the mission of F4 CEZ: to serve as the first crucial step for ambitious racers seeking a career in single-seater racing.
