The F4 Central European Zone Championship continues this weekend with the second round of the 2026 season at Salzburgring. The fast, sweeping circuit set in the Austrian hills always delivers exciting racing, but this year’s event promises even more action than ever before.
Exactly 40 drivers are entered for the Salzburgring round, which will feature the largest single-seater grid in the history of F4 CEZ at this circuit, hosting the championship since the 2024 season.
There have been several changes to the starting field since the opening event at the Red Bull Ring in April. Bien Cezary will make his debut with Maffi Racing in F4 CEZ after reaching the minimum age of 15, making him eligible to compete in the championship.
Sebastian Frigolet joins Drivex Team for his debut at Salzburgring. The Mexican driver recently made the transition from karting to Formula 4 racing and, after competing in several races in Spain, now enters the F4 CEZ Championship.
Cram Motorsport will field young female driver Payton Westcott. The American currently competes also in F1 Academy and arrives at Salzburgring fresh from Montreal, where she finished third in the second race, won by well-known Mathilda Paatz. The German driver celebrated her first F1 Academy victory during only her third race weekend in the championship. Paatz is a regular F4 CEZ competitor and will be highly motivated to achieve strong results at Salzburgring as well.
Her new teammate at Mathilda Racing will be American driver Dean Pedersen, who is also making the transition from karting to single-seater racing.
The Salzburgring weekend officially begins on Saturday with free practice sessions, followed at midday by two qualifying sessions and the first race in the afternoon. Sunday will be dedicated entirely to racing, with three races scheduled throughout the day.
Don’t miss the opportunity to watch the young and promising generation of drivers at this beautiful race track, known for its long straights and challenging corners. David Walther of Maffi Racing arrives in Austria as the championship leader with 66 points, but Jenzer Motorsport teammates Elia Weiss, Max Karhan, Teo Borenstein and Georgiy Zasov are only a few points behind him. With up to 75 points available over the weekend, it will be exciting to see how the championship standings look after the Salzburgring round.
