The second round of the F4 Central European Zone Championship takes place at the Red Bull Ring for the second time this season. The race weekend began with Saturday’s qualifying session, which was dominated by Jenzer Motorsport teammates Gino Trappa from Argentina and Max Karhan from the Czech Republic.
The qualifying session was red-flagged twice due to spins by Kiara Henni and later by David Gorčica. As a result, part of the field didn’t manage to set reasonable lap times, and the final seven minutes of green-flag running were more intense than ever.
Gino Trappa beat his teammate Max Karhan at the last moment by just 0.041 seconds and will start from pole position in afternoon’s race, with Karhan lining up alongside him.
David Walther from the Maffi Racing team was 0.136 seconds behind, with F4 CEZ debutant William Karlsson from Renauer Motorsport in fourth.
The third row will be occupied by another pair of Jenzer Motorsport teammates, Nicolas Cortez and Javier Herrera. A strong performance came from Benett Gáspár of Zengő Motorsport, who set the seventh-fastest time. Eighth was Simon Schranz from Renauer Motorsport.
Teodor Borenstein from Maffi Racing was ninth-fastest, and the top 10 was rounded out by Mathilda Paatz, who is also the best female qualifier.
The first race at the Red Bull Ring starts on Saturday at 16:05.
