Teo Borenstein delivered a stunning lap to secure pole position in qualifying. The Jenzer Motorsport driver set the fastest qualifying lap ever recorded at Slovakia Ring in F4 Central European Zone championship. The second fastest driver overall was Simon Rechenmacher from Cram Motorsport.
Two qualifying heats took place on Friday afternoon at the Slovakian circuit. The first heat featured 19 drivers, while the second included 18. Rechenmacher was the quickest in the first heat with a lap time of 2:03.110, but his benchmark was beaten by Borenstein in the second heat with a record-breaking 2:02.790. No driver had ever lapped faster in qualifying during previous editions of the F4 CEZ Championship at Slovakia Ring. Although race stewards deleted his best lap time because of unnecessarly slowly driving in sector 3, his second best 2:02.995 was still good enough to keept the fastest time.
The combined results therefore placed Borenstein first and Rechenmacher second. David Walther from Maffi Racing was third fastest overall, with Mathilda Paatz from Mathilda Racing fourth, both from heat 2. Fifth fastest was Jenzer Motorsport’s Ellia Weiss.
All 37 drivers will now be divided into three groups. As usual, two groups will be combined to form the starting grids for the three races scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The Final Races will be open to the best 32 drivers based on the results of the previous races.
