Jenzer Motorsport driver Gino Trappa, starting from sixth on the grid, charged through the field to claim his second victory of the weekend in F4 Central European Zone at Red Bull Ring. Mathilda Paatz finished second, with Max Karhan taking third.
Mathilda Paatz from Mathilda Racing and Hady Mimassi of Renauer Motorsport started from the front row. Behind them lined up Max Karhan and David Walther, representing Jenzer Motorsport and Maffi Racing respectively. The third row featured William Karlsson from Renauer Motorsport and Gino Trappa from Jenzer Motorsport.
Karhan had a great start and immediately jumped into second place behind Paatz, with the rest of the field. Mimassi put pressure on Karhan up the second long straight, while Paatz managed to build a slight gap at the front. Mimassi later lost a position to Gino Trappa, setting the order as Paatz, Karhan, Trappa, Mimassi and Karlsson in fifth.
A safety car was deployed on the second lap due to a collision between Teodor Borenstein and Romuald Bocquet, with Bocquet’s car ending up on top of Borenstein’s.
With 15 minutes remaining, the race was restarted. Trappa quickly moved into second place, and Mimassi overtook Karhan, who then repaid the move with a pass into Turn 4.
Karlsson ran fifth, Walther sixth, Schranz seventh, with teammates Nicolas Cortes and Javier Herrera in eighth and ninth. Rounding out the top ten was David Gorčica, who was under pressure from Benett Gáspár.
Schranz tried to defend from Cortes and Herrera but eventually lost out. Soon after, he also came under pressure from Gáspár, who managed to pass Gorčica.
In the closing stages, Trappa and Karhan closed the gap to Paatz, setting up a three-way fight for the lead. Trappa overtook Paatz on lap 11 to take the lead. Karhan tried to follow suit, but Paatz drove superbly and held him off until the checquered flag.
Trappa went on to win his second race of the weekend, while Paatz scored a phenomenal second place, becoming the first woman to stand on the overall podium in F4 CEZ history. Max Karhan took third, celebrating his first podium of the season. Hady Mimassi finished just behind in fourth, with David Walther crossing the line in fifth.
Nicolas Cortes took sixth, followed by William Karlsson in seventh and Javier Herrera in eighth. Simon Schranz scored another points on home soil in ninth, with the top ten rounded out by Benett Gáspár from Zengő Motorsport.
