Reno Francot changed the green field for race tracks and succeeded

Dutch Reno Francot became the vice-champion of the inaugural season of the F4 CEZ certified by FIA championship. Throughout the season, he battled with his teammate Ethan Ischer from Jenzer Motorsport for the title, leading the standings for the majority of the races. It was an impressive result for former footballer Francot, considering it was his first ever season in single-seater racing.

One of Francot’s main advantages over his teammate Ischer was his remarkable consistency. He finished in the top three in all 14 races, securing four victories. This achievement is particularly impressive given his rookie status in the single-seater category.

„The F4 CEZ is a fantastic championship for me. It features great tracks, including Formula 1 circuits like Hungaroring and Red Bull Ring. Racing on those tracks in my rookie season has been an incredible experience. The competition is also fierce, with drivers like my teammate, whit whom I was battling for the championship,“ said fifteen-year-old Francot during the season finale at Balaton Park.

Although he used to pursue a career in high-level football, Reno Francot’s life took a dramatic turn during a holiday in Spain. „I tried rental karts there and immediately fell in love with it. It was unexpected, but we ended up buying a kart, winning numerous races, and getting discovered by the OTK Kart Group. From there, I competed in the junior championship, the world championship, and also won at the academy trophy.“

Despite his previous involvement in football, Francot has always been a motorsport enthusiast. „I attended the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim in 2013 with my dad, and since then, we’ve been avid followers of every race. Our interest grew even stronger when Max Verstappen entered the scene. Once we tried karting, we decided to pursue racing further,“ explained Francot. His ultimate dream is to reach the pinnacle of motorsport, Formula 1, but he also enjoys various forms of racing, from GT to prototype racing. „Continuing to race in any kind of motorsport would be amazing,“ added Francot, whose favorite driver is the reigning Formula 1 champion, Max Verstappen.
